Electoral Hostility
A grant from the Hewlett Foundation is enabling the EPO to explore how electoral hostility affects the daily lives and interpersonal relationships of citizens in the US and beyond. The project is exploratory and multi-method, involving both qualitative and quantitative data collection through group interviews and nationally representative surveys, and ultimately aims to help us understand the real toll of electoral hostility on citizens’ everyday lives, the way it affects the relationships between citizens, and its potential impact on solidarity within the US and other democracies.
The EPO’s project ambition is to identify some solutions to ensure that we can protect democracies and citizens, make them more resilient, and mitigate the most negative impacts of electoral hostility.
The project runs from January 2025 to December 2026.
